05.05.2015 Everywhere the bourgeois pundits ask how it came to this. Reporters who maintained cold skepticism in the face of dead bodies gape in astonishment at the spectacle of a burning convenience store. The politicians preach non-violence as they send in an occupying army. All of them pose the same question; how can we restore the peace?
01.05.2015 We, the Youth of the Partido de los Trabajadores Socialistas (Socialist Workers’ Party) in Argentina, raise our voices with you, the youth in the streets of Baltimore, just we have with youth of Ferguson and many other cities across the U.S. We stand in solidarity with all the young people fighting against the brutality of the cops that is killing black people in US, and which is practiced against youth throughout the world.
01.05.2015 On May 1, demonstrations will take place in cities across the U.S. calling for justice for Freddie Gray and all of the countless black youth who have died at the hands of the police in recent years. The movement, which was launched under the rallying cry of Black Lives Matter, will hold protests in Baltimore, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle, Chicago, and several other cities. Dockworkers in Oakland will shut down the ports in solidarity with the movement.
29.04.2015 As the official start of the election campaign on April 5 shows, the "political class" is very worried about achieving a high participation, that will guarantee some of the choices under way, and that will serve to re-legitimize the institutions.
27.04.2015 The waning popularity of the "progressive" governments in Venezuela, Argentina, and Brazil and the attempts of imperialism and the South American right-wing to capitalize on the various crises within these governments have reopened the debate on the character and trajectory of the post-neoliberal governments and what political strategy is necessary to confront the pro-imperialist reaction.
27.04.2015 On April 12, the Revolutionary Workers´ Movement (MRT) was founded in Brazil. It is a new organization that struggles against the exploitation of the capitalist system and fights for socialist revolution. The MRT stands for a classless society, free from oppression, social violence and the domination of capital: a society built on the solidarity of freely associated workers. A communist society.
25.04.2015 There is a new feeling in Baltimore, where once deserted streets are now filled with protestors who call for “Justice for Freddie Gray.”
While demonstrations have been peaceful, the protestors’ outrage is palpable, shown by the growing number of participants–swelling at times to the thousands–and unrelenting protests held every day and night since Freddie Gray’s death was announced on April 19th.
23.04.2015 The powerful campaign against Gaëtan’s prison sentence has achieved the support of important political, trade union and social figures. Names include Jean Luc Mélenchon, the leader of the Front de Gauche (Left Front) of France; filmmaker Ken Loach; the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) of Britain; striking workers at Radio France, intellectuals such as Giorgio Agamben and Slavoj Zizek; and Latin American parliamentarians such as Luciana Genro and Marcelo Freixo of the Party of Socialism and Freedom (PSOL) in Brazil.
21.04.2015 Podemos was born out of the widespread discontent with the social democratic, liberal, and conservative parties of the European establishment who have held power for decades and who have all embraced the policies of neoliberalism. However, also like Syriza, Podemos has not offered political solutions that would break from the capitalist status quo that has left millions in poverty and desperation across the continent.
21.04.2015 We workers must participate in the April 15 strike, by getting organized from the grassroots, so that it will be an effective national strike, as part of a plan of struggle that will have continuity with actions, mobilizations, work stoppages, and national strikes, to defeat the precarization law and the decrees of the government and the political caste in the Congress.
20.04.2015 The Left and Workers’ Front came in third place in Mendoza, the fifth electoral district of the country. On Sunday night after primaries elections, governor candidate Noelia Barbeito for the Left and Workers' Front announced they had got near 7 percent of the vote.
02.04.2015 The crisis of the Mexican regime, caused by mass response to the kidnapping and assassination of the Normalistas in Ayotzinapa by the state police, has seen an important change in positions with the Government now moving to the offensive.
31.03.2015 national deputy from PTS and Left and Workers’ Front Nicolás del Caño joined militant trade unionists and workers at Panamericana highway, in front of Lear Corporation.
National deputy del Caño spoke to La Izquierda Diario. He said, “The strength of the strike is evident. Workers have many reasons to walkout today, not only workers’ income tax but also the fact that half of the working class in Argentina gets less than 5,500 pesos (near 600 USD) a month. Also poor work conditions, which affect in the first place young workers, production pace, within many other serious problems for workers.”
27.03.2015 It is a recurrent commonplace from most Gramscian intellectuals (as well as some fuming anti-Gramscian intellectuals) to present Gramsci's theorizations concerning the question of the passive revolution as the ‘objective foundation’ of a ‘hegemonic’ strategy which is in opposition to the permanent revolution
20.03.2015 On March 17, general elections took place in Israel. Despite the fact that a more even result was predicted, with the nearly final count, Benjamin Netanyahu is getting a clear victory over his main rival, the Labor Party's Isaac Herzog.
13.03.2015 The statement of the US President, Barack Obama, that Venezuela is a "threat to the safety of the United States," is a leap in the aggressive actions by imperialism against the Latin American country.
09.03.2015 Governor Scott Walker is poised to sign into law the anti-union "Right to Work" legislation in Wisconsin, making it the 25th state to do so. The union bureaucracy has so far refused to call for general strike in the state to fight back against the law.
07.03.2015 On January 25, the Greek people voted against the Troika, the austerity measures and cuts that the Greek government has been enacting over the past few years. The huge number of votes for Syriza expressed profound social unrest and expectations of being able to stop the memorandum and the rescue plan imposed by the Troika
28.02.2015 On February 22, the FIT slate, headed by Nicolás del Caño (PTS leader and national member of parliament) won 14% of the vote, the highest total of any left candidate for an executive position in Argentina in the last 30 years
25.02.2015 The political crisis which has unfolded after the death of special prosecutor Alberto Nisman is, without a doubt, one of the greatest obstacles faced by the Kirchner government in over a decade.
20.02.2015 The dispute over immigration reform and the obstructionism of the Republicans against the timid concessions offered by Obama produce the illusion of a dispute between antagonistic forces. A closer look reveals that, despite differing in tactics and in discourse in order to appeal to their respective electoral bases, the two parties defend similar interests.
18.02.2015 The "troika" of the European Commission, European Central Bank and the IMF are putting pressure on the government of Greece, threatening to switch off their funding so that the Greek government submits to the "troika’s" programs of debt repayment and structural adjustment. These programs, with the complicity of the Greek bourgeoisie, have plunged the country into misery. In the face of this blackmail, it is necessary to organize the broadest international solidarity with the workers and people of Greece. What is needed is a campaign for the cancellation of debt and of opposition to these austerity plans.
10.02.2015 Greece is a supreme example of the accumulated effects of the world economic crisis. As the editorial writer of the Financial Times, Martin Wolf, indicates, unemployment has reached 26%, and the GDP is also 26% below its peak before the crisis of 2008. The expenditure of Greek society on goods and services has shrunk by at least an accumulated 40%. According to Paul Krugman, the "domestic devaluation" that took place in the Hellenic country, as a result of the fall in wages, and therefore, of the unit labor costs, reaches 16%.
09.02.2015 The overwhelming victory of Syriza (Coalition of the Radical Left) in Greece broke a decades-long hold on power by the two historical parties of the Greek ruling class, the social democratic Pasok and the center-right New Democracy. Syriza's leader, Alexis Tsipras took power on promises to reverse the widely-despised austerity program and re-negotiate Greece's international debt repayment with the so-called troika of the EU, IMF, and European Central Bank (ECB).
25.01.2015 On January 25th there will early elections in Greece, elections which are being followed with huge expectations throughout all of Europe. 20.01.2015 The heads of state of Germany (Angela Merkel), the United Kingdom (David Cameron), Spain (Mariano Rajoy), and Italy (Matteo Renzi) confirmed their participation this Sunday in the demonstration called by Hollande's government, alongside of all the parties of the French regime, after the attack against the satirical weekly publication, "Charlie Hebdo."
16.01.2015 The attack against Charlie Hebdo and the anti-Semitic hostage taking in a kosher supermarket at Porte de Vincennes to which the immense republican marches of this past weekend responded have set the stage for Hollande’s comeback on the front of the political scene. In only a few days, the conjuncture has been profoundly modified. It remains however to be known if this situation will consolidate itself.

25.11.2014 The November 4 midterm elections gave the Republicans an even more overwhelming victory than the opinion polls predicted. The Republican Party increased its power in the House of Representatives, got the majority in the Senate and kept several governorships. It even managed to re-elect the Governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker, who imposed profoundly anti-worker and anti-union legislation.
20.11.2014 On the night of October 25-26, a young man, 21 years old, an environmental activist, Rémi Fraisse, was murdered by the French police during a protest against the construction of a dam in the south of France. While the weak government of François Hollande was seeking to make its "authority" worth something, this crime could cause quite the opposite. For the time being, only the great "respect for the republican institutions" of reformist parties and organizations and even of groups of the "far left," allows the crisis not to intensify and turn into a massive popular mobilization.
31.10.2014 Jerusalem has turned into one of the key settings of the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians. The summary execution of a young Palestinian and the subsequent decision of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to close access to the Esplanade of the Mosques, are only the most recent expressions from an extensive history of violence and oppression by the State of Israel. During the week that is coming to an end, Jerusalem was a setting of an escalation of tensions and confrontations.
16.10.2014 Between the night of Friday, September 26 and the early morning of Saturday, September 27, students from the "Raúl Isidro Burgos” rural teachers' college of Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, that left the city of Iguala after carrying out fundraising activities, were pursued and shot at on two occasions by members of the municipal police and hired killers from the criminal organization Guerreros Unidos, a detachment of the cartel of the Beltrán Leyva brothers. In a third attack, the armed groups directed a burst of machine gun fire at a truck that was carrying the soccer team Los Avispones, of Chilpancingo.
16.10.2014 20 days after the massacre of the normalistas (students studying to be teachers) from Ayotzipana, Mexico and the disappearance of 43 of them, the indignation of the people in the country has grown, as has the disapproval of President Enrique Peña Nieto
15.10.2014 The execution of 22 alleged criminals in Tlataya, Mexico State, at the hands of the army last June and the massacre of student teachers in Iguala, Guerrero, have opened up an institutional crisis in Mexico. This, in a context of the rise of the impunity with which the groups of drug traffickers and hired killers, that fill the streets with corpses, are acting, where the ungovernable nature is obvious.
