Porfirio Lobo has been using this selective but systematic policy of repression and persecution against the Resistence with a dual purpose: to impose in one hand, the "normalization" of the government that arose from the fraudulent elections and, in the other hand, a series of fiscal measures that would allow him to return to the circle of those who owe money to the IMF.

In view of the arrival of deposed President Manuel Zelaya in Honduras, the coup plotters’ government is toughening up its repressive policy throughout the country, the curfew has been in force since September 21, there are two illegal detention centers installed, with hundreds of detainees, there are permanent cuts in lights and telephones, the alternative media have been sabotaged, anti-coup channels and radio stations, like Cholusat y Radio Globo, are off the air, and Radio Progreso is maintained via internet, broadcasting in a clandestine manner.

Three neighborhoods where the Resistance is being given shelter have been raided, and the number of people arrested by the army during these raids is unknown.

The Resistance has called on the people to retreat and sets as a meeting place the Sindicato del Magisterio for those who are fleeing the police throughout the city.

During the most recent hours, the repression has spread in a brutal manner in the streets of Tegucigalpa.

There are charges from many parts of the country that people are being moved to the Chochi Sosa Stadium, calls from the coast and the towns of the interior, that people manage to make before being moved, mentioning their names and that they have been beaten badly.

At this time, the army is keeping patrols at all the entrances to the city to prevent the caravans from entering, and there have been multiple confrontations throughout the country. The biggest of them was the brutal confrontation at 5 a.m. at the Brazilian Embassy, where hundreds of policemen and soldiers evicted the enormous contingent of 50,000 people, who were there during the night

Today upon Zelaya’s return to Honduras, thousands of people in Tegucigalpa took to the streets and demonstrated in front of the Brazilian embassy. The large crowd of people shouted “assassins and rapists” at the army, forcing them to leave.
